SC mom's tax return refund goes viral

She said when she got her tax return this year, she chose to put all the money toward putting a roof over her family's head rather than spending it on the hottest trend.

"It's pretty insane", she said. "You see too many posts now about 'Oh, I got my kid the latest Jordans, ' or 'Oh, look my 7-year-old has an iPhone 7.' People lose sight of what's important".

Knaack's received $5,600 back in tax and paid her family's entire rent for the year.

"I'm a single mom and I do it all by myself on a minimum wage job". She also wants single moms to know it is possible to survive on their own. Of the more than 26,000 comments on Facebook, the large majority applaud the single mother for her selfless parenting. "And this also means I will have that extra $450 a month to do things with my kids".

Christina Knaack said when she posted a message on her Facebook to share with her family and friends, she never expected what would happen next.

"The fact that more men and women want to use their tax refund for responsible purposes could indicate an increase in financial literacy among Americans", GoBankingRates concluded. I just shared my accomplishments with people I know.

"You're a great mother save this post and show it to your kids when there's grown up they will appreciate and tell you that you're the best Mother in the world", said another poster. As long as my post has inspired people I'm happy with that.
