South Carolina Walmart cashier helps pay for family's groceries

"Half the time his whole check goes to groceries and household stuff", says Jordan. The post now has over 15 thousand likes and over three thousand shares.

"One of the other registers didn't have bags so I had to move to another register, and when I moved to that register, that's when Ashley came through the line", Dasant said. Dasant left her register and returned with a blessing indeed for the family.

Sharnique Dasant, a customer service manager at the Walmart on Garners Ferry Rd., says she had other plans for her Saturday night. "Then the cashier walked around the counter and was hitting something on the keypad".

Dasant says it was just what God would want. "So, I hope other people can see what she did and to pay it forward to someone someday because I definitely will".

Ashley and Michael were in "complete shock" after the surprise from a total stranger. Did she really just do this? "I didn't even know she had hard times or was on hard times or struggling or any of that". The family was "at a loss of words" when Sharnique Dasant paid for half of their items.

"She said 'I think y'all need a blessing tonight!' And she waked around to the machine and swiped the card", Ashley, 27, tells PEOPLE.

"Me and my husband and our very fussy one year old finally got into the auto and when we did we just looked at each other and smiled and at that moment we both knew things were going to be OK because there truly are good people out there", she said. "And I was like, 'give her $100 dollars?' Like, I'm talking to myself like, 'Give her 100 dollars, '" according to People magazine.

Desalt could not be reached for comment but she told a local television station that God told her to help pay for their groceries. "I just had like a little man on my shoulder that was like, 'Give her $100 dollars, give her $100 dollars, '" she said.
