The advanced fingerprint sensor that is located just below the rear camera cannot only keep your smartphone secure but also act as a quick shutter button for selfies and screen capture. The smartphone has been priced at Rs. 13,990, and will be available via retail stores from Thursday, February 23 in Black, Gold, and Titanium colour variants.
The LG K10 2017 also does not exactly dazzle from a design point of view.
"The K10 2017 smartphone comes with an emergency panic button that can be pressed to generate an alarm".
LG K10 (2017) runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and packed with 2800mAh removable battery.
Last year, India's telecom ministry had announced that, 2017 onwards, smartphones can't be sold without a "panic button" for emergencies.
As per a Department of Telecommunications office memorandum, "It has been decided by the competent authority that the import of mobile phone handsets without Panic Button/Emergency call button feature prescribed as per 'Panic Button and Global Positioning System Facility in all mobile phone handsets Rules 2016 shall be allowed till 28th February 2017 wef 01.01.2017".
The smartphone also features a fingerprint scanner at the back - a feature afforded only to those willing to dish out upwards of R50,000 for a phone. LG K10 2017 was unveiled in worldwide market earlier, along with LG K3, K4 and K8. Although this was a mere request by the Government, most smartphone makers are working to incorporate it in their upcoming phones launching in India this year. You need to press and the button for three second to let the phone send a distress signal to the national emergency number - 112. The curved metallic U frame of the LG K10 (2017) is complemented by smooth edges of 2.5D curved glass on the 5.3inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution display.
On the optics front, the LG K10 is expected to sport a 13-megapixel rear camera with a CMOS sensor and flash in addition the to 5-megapixel front camera with a 120-degree wide-angle lens for Selfie and video calling purposes. Under the hood it has an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 processor with 2GB RAM, and 16GB of internal storage with microSD support (up to 2TB). In terms of dimensions, the smartphone measures 148.7 x 75.3 x 7.9mm and weighs in at 142 grams. Connectivity options include LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, microUSB 2.0 and NFC.
