Han Solo standalone film cast gather for their first family photo

Cast and crew have wrapped up their first day on set in London for the as-yet untitled Han Solo movie, with Disney releasing a photo of some familiar (and not-so-familiar) faces.

Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are seen aboard the Falcon with Alden Ehrenreich, who plays Han Solo, and co-stars Woody Harrelson, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Emilia Clarke and Donald Glover, who plays Lando Calrissian. Thandie Newton ("Westworld") also stars in the film but was not featured in the photo.

The movie recently started filming and reportedly has the working title of Star Wars: Red Cup, although that it thought likely to change. Meanwhile, we will just have to wait for more news to flow in about the upcoming Star Wars films. Highlights include Arrival Director of Photography Bradford Young, Action Designer Brad Allan (Kingsman), so at least the Han Solo movie will look good and have great action. "Because he's hot", she joked. On Twitter, actor Josh Gad enlisted the help of some Hollywood friends, including Christ Pratt and J.J. Abrams, to interrogate Star Wars: The Force Awakens actress Daisy Ridley. The yet-untitled film is scheduled for release on May 25, 2018. Game of Throne's star Emilia Clarke is there, and she will be playing an unknown female role.

Donald Glover - known for "Atlanta", "Community" and his rapper persona, Childish Gambino - will be playing the young version of Lando Calrissian, as we learned in October. Finally, in the background is everyone's favorite Wookie, being played by basketball player Joonas Suotamo!

The Han Solo film will look at the early years of the rogue pilot before the events of A New Hope.

While Suotamo has been able to enjoy his anonymity so far - what with being behind the Chewbacca mask for all of his time on screen - he's also taken the opportunity to bask in the Star Wars glory. "We just feel really moved, and really lucky". The script has been written by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan.
