No. 1 TCU baseball completes sweep of Penn State

The Iowa State men's basketball team has grown accustomed to winning with offense. Toughness is a new wrinkle to this group's makeup.

Iowa State won the league tournament twice under former coach Fred Hoiberg, and a strong showing there could help the Cyclones improve their NCAA seeding.

It was the third consecutive win for the Cyclones (17-9, 9-5 Big 12), who again boosted their tournament resume with just 22 days until Selection Sunday.

"When you get to this point in the season, your best players need to carry you, and I thought Jadda, Bridget and Seanna were tremendous", Fennelly said.

You can also follow along with live stats. When you lose a guy like Georges (Niang) and some really good pieces, you're trying to figure out the best way for this team to play.

There's still plenty of work to do - and the margin of error may be slim - but it's a start for the Cyclones, who feel like the door hasn't been completely closed on their chances of dancing in March.

TCU (17-10): Miller 4-9 0-1 10, Brodziansky 4-8 2-2 11, Robinson 7-13 1-1 16, Fisher 5-10 0-0 11, K.Williams 4-7 0-1 10, Sottile 0-0 0-0 0, Washburn 1-1 1-2 3, Shepherd 0-0 0-0 0, M.Williams 1-2 0-0 3, Bane 3-4 1-1 7, B.Parrish 0-1 0-0 0, Dry 0-0 0-0 0. Mitrou-Long buried two of his five first-half treys in the run. "It was a collective group effort".

However, TCU (3-0) would tie the game in the second inning, as shortstop Ryan Merrill singled home a run and then, during the next at-bat, got caught in a rundown that allowed a runner from third to score when Penn State misplayed it. TCU had 36 points in the paint and Brodziansky had 11 points and seven boards with most of his production coming slightly removed from the basket.

Deonte Burton scored 18 points for the Cyclones, winners of four out of their last five games. "Everybody's competitive on our roster and our bigs worked hard this week". Saturday marked the team's third straight loss. Morris posted a double-double with a team-high 11 rebounds. The Nittany Lions actually led 2-0 early on, before the Horned Frogs responded in the second frame.

TCU began the second half making 7-of-8 field goals to quickly cut the Cyclone lead to four points at 49-45 with 14:06 left in the game.

The fourth quarter started off slowly for West Virginia, as the Mountaineers started 0-of-8 from the field and ISU used a 9-3 run to push its lead to 57-39 with 5:42 remaining.

Burger went 2-for-4 with the two home runs and all three runs batted in to lead Penn State (0-3) offensively. Totals 27-53 18-21 84.

Sunday's TCU win came on the heels of a 6-3 victory over Penn State on Friday and a 12-1 win on Saturday. Fouled out-K.Williams. Rebounds-TCU 27 (Brodziansky 7), Iowa St. 27 (Mitrou-Long 7). Monte' Morris added 18 points and dished out 11 assists with just one turnover.
