Trump calls the news media the 'enemy of the American people'

A Washington Post publication headlined its story, "I'm not ranting and raving" in a slight variation of his prediction.

However, he insisted he was "actually having a very good time" and described reporters at Fox News, a conservative-leaning broadcaster, as "very honourable people".

"I was given that information", Trump said.

President Donald Trump said Thursday that his administration is "running like a fine-tuned machine".

Only 18 per cent of responders believe that the media has been giving President Trump an easier time, while 12 per cent believe that both are treated the same.

For 77 minutes Trump's performance was a microcosm of his tenure as Commander in Chief, as he flipped from topic to topic, answering questions from 17 reporters. After Trump's press conference this week that was largely derided as unhinged - at one point, Trump continued to state incorrectly that his electoral college victory was the largest since Ronald Reagan, even when an NBC News reporter corrected him - Fox News was still in his corner.

Trump also took the opportunity for an unprecedented attack on the press.

In fact the news conference was not scheduled until Thursday morning, but aides said Trump was itching to go out there and defend himself.

Allan Smith of Business Insider echoes his disheartened colleagues. Gallup says Republicans' faith in media plummeted from 32% to 14% last September, influenced by the more positive media coverage of Hillary Clinton versus Donald Trump. But Trump appeared and stepped onto the dais alone. He promoted his SC speech and thanked people for the "nice statements" after his news conference.

Limbaugh provided his listeners a live listen to the Thursday presser, offering intermittent commentary when ever he felt necessary. "Congress should be doing independent oversight of the Executive Branch and protecting whistleblowers, not running interference while the White House conceals their abuses and misleads the American people for weeks". Tremendous disservice. We have to talk about it. We have to talk about it to find out what's going on, because the press honestly is out of control.

"Some of the media's fantastic, I have to say, honest and fantastic - but much of it is not", he added.

In less than a month, President Trump has created a White House where leaks of information concerning his bellicose behavior, his boorish personal habits, his freaky fears, and his pathological lying dominate the headlines of newspapers around the country.

And the White House previously raised eyebrows after the president only took questions during his press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe from outlets owned by Rupert Murdoch, who has longstanding personal and financial ties to Trump. 'Chaos. Yet it is the exact opposite'. "I don't think there's ever been a president elected who in this short period of time has done what we've done". I inherited a MESS and am in the process of fixing it.

While Trump had inherited a complex situation overseas, domestically the Obama administration passed on a stable economy. "I just want to let you know, I inherited a mess".
