Kendrick Perkins doubts Durant, Westbrook have 'real beef'

Instead, could hometown hero Anthony Davis prevent Russell Westbrook from winning the All-Star Game MVP award for the third consecutive year?

Whether that ends the perceived feud or not, only time will tell, but what was telling was the nearly omnipresent smile on the normally surly Westbrook's face from that point on as the West went on to win this defence-less spectacle 192-182 over the Eastern Conference All-Stars.

The New Orleans Pelicans star Davis was named MVP and broke the scoring record of 42 points set by Wilt Chamberlain in 1962.

Fans started to exit the Smoothie King center late in the fourth quarter. "My teammates did a great job of looking for me". "I didn't want anybody to get hurt".

Once considered close friends, Westbrook and Durant have not spoken off the court since the latter made a decision to leave Oklahoma City for the conference-rival Golden State Warriors this past July. While taking in the three-point contest and the rest of All-Star Saturday night, the in-arena announcer reminded the crowd quite vividly of where Durant plied his trade for almost a decade.

The supposed Westbrook-Durant feud was one of the major storylines entering this All-Star Game, after Durant left the Thunder to join Golden State last summer. Steph Curry (21 points), James Harden (12 points) and Klay Thompson (12) were the West's other double-figure scorers. He has achieved something that is unbelievable, and yet he isn't among the five best in the West. Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, two players from the Warriors, are on the bench, as well as Cousins from Sacramento.

Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo led the East with 28 points.

Even Cleveland was able to forgive LeBron James, so there's hope for KD and OKC to settle their differences one day.

Thomas had 20 points on 7-for-15 shooting and 4-for-10 from 3-point range. Irving also had 14 assists and seven rebounds.

The teams shattered several All-Star Game scoring records.

Well, who knows, this could be one of the best all-star games in the All-Star history.

Durant signed with the Golden State Warriors as a free agent in the 2016 offseason after playing nine seasons with the Seattle Supersonics/Oklahoma City Thunder.

The other show in the third was Westbrook, who got hot and scored a dozen points all in third - all on threes - and kept the West out in front 144-139. He made 26 of 39 shots from the field, eclipsing Blake Griffin's 2014 record of 19 field goals in an All-Star game.

The East vs. West showdown wasn't all dunks, though a exactly half of Davis' 52 points were uncontested throw-downs.

Neither team quite got 100 points in the first half, but it was close.
