Wayne Rooney could leave Man United - Scholes

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has claimed that the Red Devils are "only a couple of players away" from once again being a force in English and European football.

Despite making an immediate impact following his high-profile transfer from Monaco in 2015, the 21-year-old Martial has found himself on the fringes of the first team this season, having made just 10 league starts under Mourinho.

"No one will be more frustrated than Wayne at not playing".

Jose Mourinho MUST challenge for the Premier League title following a year of transition at Old Trafford after the departure of Louis van Gaal. Being a sub will be driving him up the wall. "When I neared the end of my career, I followed him closely and tried to play like Kroos", Scholes told kicker.

He has two years to run on his current contract, but his former team-mate Scholes is unsure whether Rooney will see out his deal at United.

Scholes also talked about Kroos' compatriot Bastian Schweinsteiger, who has been added to United's Europa League squad for the upcoming knockout stages after overcoming a hard period under manager Jose Mourinho. "But it's up to him to get his head down and prove he can play in the big games" Sky Sports quoted Scholes as saying. "They are a hard team to play against, as well as a good team to play".

"I think it depends on every individual and what kind of person they are and their approach, how open he is".

Paul Scholes believes that Chelsea will be crowned champions and Manchester United will finish third in the Premier League this season.

'Because he didn't sign for us, everyone wanted to boot him and kick him, but you couldn't get near him.
