Jahlil Okafor reportedly rejoins 76ers after trade talks stall

Going into Monday, 76ers coach Brett Brown explained the move was a prudent one with Okafor's interests - and value to the team, of course - in mind. Okafor even changed his Twitter location to his hometown of Chicago, which only amplified the perception that a trade was imminent.

Well, he's baaaaaaackkkkkkk. Not only has Okafor returned to the Sixers for the final game before the all-star break in Boston, he's also going to play against the Celtics on Wednesday night.

On Saturday night in South Philadelphia, Jahlil Okafor was held out of the Sixers' win against the Miami Heat because the team was discussing a trade involving him.

O'Connor cites sources as saying the 76ers had trade talks with the New Orleans Pelicans that more or less hit a dead end. But with Joel Embiid's emergence, the Duke big man, who was selected third overall in the 2015 NBA Draft, has seen his playing time and production slashed. With that in mind, what type of motivation or incentive does Okafor have to play hard?

Philadelphia's low post scorer averages just 11.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game off the bench this season and is fighting for minutes in a crowded 76ers front court. "When I'm not traveling with the team I was expecting something to happen". But I know I'm playing tonight and that's what I'm focusing on. So is Okafor staying for good?

Bringing Okafor back only complicates matters, especially after it seemed the team was ready to part ways with him a few days ago. This doesn't mean he will play by any means, as the 76ers don't want to risk an injury while they continue to shop him. Earlier Tuesday, there was a report that the 76ers were looking for a 1st round draft pick this year in return.
