Bayern's Hummels backs Ozil to beat slump

'During Robin van Persie's time as captain, players were encouraged to join friends and family in the players' lounge after games and shake hands with all in the room. It's not something you can project on to one player.

Ozil has been one of Arsenal's outstanding stars since his arrival from Real Madrid in 2013, but he has failed to really make a telling impact for Arsene Wenger's side in recent weeks.

"A modern-day player has to be equipped to do both and I do not know whether Arsenal get enough from Ozil when they do not have the ball".

"Maybe I'm being unfair, it can be hard to recover back, but you see other players doing that".

Some Gunners fans have even suggested Ozil should be dropped, but Hummels expects a busy night trying to keep his Germany team-mate breaking Bayern's winning streak. "I don't think there's one you can say that always delivers in every big and important game".

"Of course we have to make him play not good tomorrow because that would be bad for the result".

"If he was to win the Champions League or the (Premier) League they could look at extending it again", he said.

But Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti, who came up against Wenger while manager of Chelsea, believes the Frenchman should now be immune to any criticism. He built a strong identity in this club, he built a really good style of football. He scored a lot against me in training matches.

"In the second half we lost Koscielny very quickly - he came off at 1-1 - and finally we collapsed". Alexis Sanchez, Ozil, (Theo) Walcott and (Olivier) Giroud - up front they are a really risky team'.
