John Cena's 16th reign as world champion lasted 14 days after he won the title at Royal Rumble. The all-new Elimination Chamber structure saw John Cena defend the WWE Championship, but who survived the Chamber with the title?
The PPV ended with Randy Orton staring into the eyes of Bray Wyatt.
Other bouts include Dolph Ziggler taking on Apollo Crews and Kalisto in a handicapped match, Becky Lynch faces Mickie James, Nikki Bella faces Natalya and Randy Orton faces Luke Harper. Orton won the Royal Rumble and gets an automatic WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 33. How will this work? The referees finally got Corbin out of the ring. Or can the two simply shake hands and let the better man win? Just like with Wyatt, it seemed like Naomi was going to win the title time after time and always fell short. It finally happened inside the Elimination Chamber.
However, many are also expecting The Miz to feature too, as it looks nearly certain that he and Cena will be involved in a mixed tag team match at the Grandest Stage of Them All. Wyatt was nearly an afterthought in this match until we saw the final three of Wyatt, Cena, and Styles. With seven weeks to go, though, the path to WrestleMania could have many twists and turns.
Rotunda defeated former champion John Cena, AJ Styles, The Miz, Dean Ambrose and Baron Corbin in an Elimination Chamber match to capture WWE's most prestigious title. Naomi, after almost eight years in the company, finally added another WWE accomplishment to her Best Dance Moves of the Year 2013 Slammy Award: the WWE Smackdown Women's Championship. Plus, we have a new Women's Champion in Noami, but when will Alexa Bliss get her rematch? By being a true fabric of WWE's most lucrative quarter, not only will social media impressions and WWE subscribers remain stellar, but sales of Elimination Chamber-related merchandise-like the Elimination Chamber playset which retails for $69.99 at Toys "R" Us-can bolster WWE's wide variety of consumer products. As of now, a Fatal 4-Way seems the best option for the Women's Championship, but word on the street has that stipulation pencilled in for Raw's ladies. After American Alpha (the 5th team to enter) pinned the Usos, Jimmy and Jey vented their frustration in a vindictive beatdown. The lay-out of that match suggests an upcoming feud with The Uso's, which could be a potential show-stealer at WrestleMania. Becky Lynch and Mickie James was bad, and Kalisto and Apollo Crews beating Dolph Ziggler in a 2-on-1 handicap match was one that you could miss in it's entirety. It doesn't feel like anyone received any momentum from that match, so it's unclear where any of the competitors goes next. Corbin started dominant early on and attacked Ambrose, before hitting him with a Deep Six. As for AJ and Harper, neither man has seemingly any plans moving forward, which is especially alarming for The Phenomenal One.
Yet another section that the fans should keep an eye on tonight's show of the WWE Smackdown is the one that involves Nikki Bella and Maryse.
The dirt sheets had been reporting for a couple weeks that Wyatt could walk away from Elimination Chamber as the champion and those reports turned out to be right.
