Angel di Maria's performance against Barcelona provokes reaction from Man Utd fans

A Barca side stuffed with some of the world's most decorated stars were brushed aside easily as Julian Draxler and Edinson Cavani added their names to the scoresheet and the margin might even have been bigger, such was the home side's control.

Barcelona continued to play their patient possession game but failed to threaten and their apparent complacency was punished again five minutes before the break.

Like Barcelona, PSG have endured something of an identity crisis at times this season under Emery, although they are beginning to get their act together.

The La Liga giants suffered their equal highest margin of defeat in the Champions League at the Parc des Princes as PSG ran riot for the full 90 minutes.

"Very few players can match what he is doing". "It's not hard to explain".

'They have a new coach, they changed many things, I don't know if we'll be favourites.

There is nothing like a three-ball with 360 goals between them to rain ruin on premature ideas of decline and fall in Barcelona. "We were clearly inferior". The responsibility falls exclusively on me. I am confident in my players' ability, I can see they are motivated. However the former Roma manager wasn't ready to concede defeat yet, "There's half the tie to go and I won't lose hope, even though it will take a heroic comeback, why not dream?"

Lionel Messi scored 10 goals in the 2016/17 Champions League group stages, the second-most in the competition's group phase after Cristiano Ronaldo's 11 last season. "He looked dejected and bereft of ideas, [but] he's human".

Fellow England worldwide and former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard also agreed with the assessment, adding "He showed zero effort. No reaction all night".

Neymar struck a free-kick over in the first minute of additional time, which summed up Barcelona's night, and the two sides will meet again in the Camp Nou in three weeks time.

Barcelona had led 4-1 in the 52nd minute but Emery's side fought back superbly to extend the game.

"This was the best performance I've been part of since coming to PSG", said midfielder Blaise Matuidi, one of QSI's first signings after its takeover in June, 2011. "We have to try to continue in the same way".

Di Maria scored one more goal in the second half and Edison Cavani sealed the fate of Barcelona, when he put the ball into the net 20 minutes before the end.

Emery vowed that his players were not scared of Barca's famed MSN attack of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar, and would impose their game.
