Wenger urges misfiring Ozil to become more ruthless

Back-to-back defeats to Watford and Chelsea have contributed to Arsenal sitting 10 points adrift of leaders Chelsea, and it appears that Arsene Wenger's side will once again have to focus on trying to win a trophy in a different competition.

The Bavarians have been more a model of efficiency under coach Carlo Ancelotti than the high-scoring, high-speed train of past seasons under predecessor Pep Guardiola. "So we must go there, not hide, but defend well as a team".

"What I saw against Chelsea is a mental problem".

Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has lost his race to be back in time from a thigh injury to face Arsenal in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Five-time champion Bayern has knocked Arsenal out in the round of 16 three times - in 2005, 2013 and 2014.

His Gunners team have fallen away in their latest bid for the Premier League title, and Bayern pose as a daunting prospect in Europe this week.

It's the same with the players in the run-up to an important game. I don't want a vacation or a time off, I want to work hard and play with the team. We have to make sure we play well on the day because we are going to have to if we are going to beat Bayern Munich.

And, finally, the happiness at winning a game they should win anyway, a nod to the previous few poor performances and a vow to get it right in the next big game. In midfield, the wrecking ball that is Arturo Vidal is a flawless accompaniment for the playmaking talents of Thiago Alcantara, while Arjen Robben, Ribery, Douglas Costa and Kingsley Coman are wide players to make any manager envious.

Arturo Vidal believes Arsenal's willingness to play expansive football will help Bayern Munich in Wednesday's Champions League round of 16 opener. He spoke privately to Ozil on Friday but that had little impact during Saturday's match against Hull.

About 30 seconds later, the anger grew in Kerr's voice as the manager within him riled up at Ozil's efforts to gain possession.

They suggest that Ozil is finding himself under increasing pressure after some of the players feel he gets preferential treatment from Wenger.

While the German is more famed for his assists rather than his goals, Ozil hasn't scored since the beginning of December - a run of eight games without a goal.
