Killer of Telangana youth gunned down in U.S. arrested, says Sushma Swaraj

An unidentified man shot dead a Telugu youth at a parking lot in San Francisco, California, on Saturday. "The report says Vamshi was killed by a drug addict on Friday evening at Milpitas", Swaraj tweeted. "We assure you of all help and assistance", she added.

According to reports, Vamshi Reddy was found dead with bullet injuries near the garage of his apartment at Milpitas and the police suspect that a person might have shot him dead to rob him of money and auto.

Reddy, a poor farmer in Vangapahad village in Hasanparthy block of Warangal district, said Vamsi had gone to California in September 2015 to do an MS in computer science. He was attacked and killed by a White man who reportedly tried to rob him too.

Reddy's father Mohan Reddy Mamidala, a farmer from Vangapahad, said in a report that his son was in regular touch with the family and had called as recently as February 10 about his concern over the miniscule job opportunities in the US following the restrictions imposed by the new government.

However, Vamsi's brother-in-law Srinivas Reddy told Mirror over the telephone, "We have not yet received official information". He was very anxious about his future as the new government in the United States is imposing restrictions on the hiring of foreign nationals in the IT sector.

He said Vamshi spoke to him over phone just two days back. I asked him to come back and find a job here. Mohan Reddy appealed to the government to bring Vamsi's body home at the earliest.

Vamsi did his engineering from Vatsalya Engineering College at Bhongir on the city outskirts.
