David Bowie's Grammy Wins For 'Blackstar' Are Bittersweet

Much of the lead-up to Sunday night's 59th Annual Grammy Awards has centered on the year's diva duel: Adele vs. Beyonce in numerous show's top categories, including Album of the Year.

The legendary British singer passed away in January previous year aged 69 after a secret battle with cancer.

Adele is nominated for her ubiquitous song Hello and her album 25, which has been the world's top-seller since her 21, which also triumphed at the Grammys.

Arriving at the ceremony in Los Angeles, the 28-year-old looked stunning in an olive green gown. He has one more opportunity to win a fifth award in the best rock song category for "Blackstar".

Joining Bowie in the Best Alternative Music Album category are Radiohead's A Moon Shaped Pool, Iggy Pop's Post Pop Depression, PJ Harvey's The Hope Six Demolition Project and Bon Iver's 22, A Million.

For Best Rock Performance, he beat out Alabama Shakes, Beyoncé featuring Jack White, Disturbed and Twenty One Pilots.

Finally, the Best Metal Performance nominees are Korn's "Rotting in Vain", Megadeth's "Dystopia", Periphery's "The Price Is Wrong", Baroness' "Shock Me" and Gojira's "Silvera".

Best Rock Song was the only of the five given out during the Sunday night telecast on CBS; the other four were announced beforehand, leaving the sweep in doubt until showtime.
