National Lok Adalat held at Seraikela Court

Ujjain: A national people's court was organised on Saturday at district headquarters and associated 37 benches across the district for speedy settlement of long pending cases.
In the pre-litigation category, out of the 883 cases, 92 cases were disposed off and orders issued to recover an amount of Rs 85,26,259 under bank recovery proceedings. Presently, the Visakhapatnam District Court has over 65,000 cases pending.
National Lok Adalat was also held at Thoubal, Bishnupur, Chandel, Tamenglong and Senapati district by the concerned district legal services authorities.
Principal district and sessions judge, R G Awachat, inaugurated the Lok Adadat session in presence of senior lawyers and a large number of litigants.
In 2013, the National Lok Adalat was conducted only once in November, where a total of 3,618 cases were settled, including 1,047 of PLC and 2,571 pending cases _ 234 civil and 2,337 criminal cases.
In Budgam, National Lok Adalats were held in District Court Budgam and its subordinate courts today under the chairmanship of Principle District & Sessions Judge Budgam.
Compoundable cases, excise offences, motor vehicle accident issues, compensation and revenue and bank recovery cases would be taken up for hearing and settlement, she said.DLSA Secretary M.V. Harinath said previously, National Lok Adalath was held on every second Saturday. "The total value of the settlement amount reached today is Rs 1,185 crores", NALSA said in a press statement.
