The 31-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford as he failed to establish himself in the side, but under the Portuguese boss, he's been one of Man United's standout performers.
It took Jose Mourinho's side a while to get the breakthrough but it finally came in the 32nd minute when a lovely cross from Martial was put into the net by Juan Mata to give the team a deserved lead. He came with the intention to stay two years, and the first year is going better than every expectation.
"So I'm convinced that he's staying, he's adapted to the club, to the situation".
He added: "I don't see any problem with his family".
"I was very happy for him", Mata told MUTV. He doesn't want (it).
"I kept shouting to him, "Attack the defender, go to the one against one".
The United manager also joked about executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward's use of the word "churn" during a conference call with investors to discuss the club's latest financial results on Thursday. United spent around 137 million pounds ($170.77 million) net as Mourinho arrived before the current campaign on players like world record signing Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly.
"First of all, yesterday I had to ask a friend about "churn" because I had no idea. We never know where we will finish". "From this six or seven only one or two are great quality, all the others are the same as the ones we are selling, so we are not going to play this game", Mourinho said. We are not going to play this game.
"We are stable. We think our market in the summer will be soft and natural".
"People sometimes forget that these teams like Watford and Stoke have very good players". The mood at Old Trafford on Saturday evening was of top four and trophies.
"So if at the end of the season, I want one of their players or they want one of our players, we will not do it through the press". "I'm the first to know that I did".
"If you present a top club like Manchester United that has a great history, a great character you feel the pressure because you have to keep up the rhythm of the club and keep making history", he said. I'm not negatively surprised with anyone.
"I think he's completely right, of course we speak about it, of course we speak about 'what next?' and we know that we have a squad that, like every squad, needs changes". He is clearly Manchester United's top option at right back, so he will nearly certainly be in the starting lineup on Saturday.
Manchester United are close to full strength going into to the game.
