Kellyanne Conway goes on TV to encourage people to "buy Ivanka's stuff!"

Conway said during the interview that Ivanka Trump has a wonderful clothing line.

Chaffetz met with President Trump earlier this week at the White House.

White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway tweeted Friday that President Trump has her back, amid a controversy over comments she made promoting Ivanka Trump's fashion line. He defended his daughter on Twitter saying she "has been treated so unfairly by @Nordstrom".

White House spokesman Sean Spicer said Conway had been "counseled" on her comments. "I hate shopping, but I'm going to get some myself today". "I own some of it", Conway added. I'm going to give a free commercial here.

"Go buy Ivanka's stuff, is what I would say".

Trump himself had taken to social media to blast Nordstrom, a private company, for dropping his daughter's product line, tweeting out that their decision was "Terrible!"

It is unclear who "counseled" Conway and what punishment, if any, she might face.

One of USA president Donald Trump's closet aides has urged the public to buy items from a clothing and jewellery line named after Mr Trump's daughter Ivanka.

He said the White House should notify the Office of Government Ethics so it could initiate an inquiry.

"This endorsement of specific merchandise would appear to violate ethics laws and regulations, which clearly bar federal employees from endorsing any product or enterprise for private gain", the senators said.

Federal ethics rules ban executive branch employees from making profits from their positions, but that statute exempts the president.

As the director of OGE, you have authority to review potential ethics violations and notify the employee's agency, which in this case is the White House. CREW officials say Conway also may have broken a federal law that prohibits the use of public funds for non-official purposes.
