Chavo Guerrero Sr. Passes Away at 68 … Recently Diagnosed With Liver Cancer

Chavo Guerrero Sr. has passed away at the age of 68.

His death was first announced on Instagram by his son, former WWE Superstar Chavo Guerrero Jr.

Guerrero's son and namesake, Chavo Guerrero Jr., who also wrestled with WWE, made the announcement on Saturday. "He did things "HIS" way". Not always right, not always wrong, but He always followed what he believed in. Junior says Chavo was diagnosed with liver cancer last month.

Our thoughts are with the Guerrero family at this time.

WWE extends its condolences to Chavo Guerrero Sr.'s family, friends and fans. After first making his name in Japan squaring off with hardcore innovator and future member of the Diet Atsushi Onita, Chavo relocated to California to compete for NWA Hollywood, where he feuded with Roddy Piper, picking up the NWA Americas Heavyweight Championship 15 times in the process.

The veteran grappler was born in El Paso, Texas, 18 years before his brother, another WWE Hall of Famer in Eddie Guerrero.

Chavo Guerrero Sr., then billed as Chavo Classic, joined his son, Chavo Jr., in a feud against Eddie Guerrero, the younger brother of Chavo Sr. After a lengthy career in the business, Chavo became the oldest wrestler ever to win the WWE Cruiserweight title in 2004.
