Which is why when the announcement of a parallel prequel film called Naam Shabana was announced, there was excitement. The trailer suggests that Naam Shabana actually is the backstory for Akshay Kumar's Baby, with the spotlight on Taapsee's character.
The film, the second instalment in Neeraj Pandey's immensely popular "Baby" franchise, has Taapsee Pannu reprise her extended cameo from the original into a full-fledged starring role as the eponymous spy. The first trailer of the movie just dropped in and we are experiencing an adrenaline rush like never before. The movie features Tapsee Pannu and Akshay Kumar playing the lead roles. Now the duo are busy with the shooting of the upcoming action thriller Naam Shabana.
The trailer begins by introducing us to Taapsee's character who appears to be like any other ordinary girl next door, while Manoj Bajpayee's voiceover informs us why she has been chosen to be a part of the agency.
Talking about the trailer, director Neeraj Pandey said, "Let me put it that way - it's (Naam Shabana) a spin-off and that one scene in Baby made an impact on the audience and that's how we came about making a film on the character Shabana".
The film also has Anupam Kher, Danny Denzongpa and Madhurima Tuli reprising their respective roles from "Baby".
The movie will be released on March 31, 2017 and before that Tapsee's another movie The Ghazi Attack will hit the screens.
