Basketball: Big game for Steven Adams as Thunder topple Cavaliers

Kevin Durant's return to Oklahoma City has been a game that has been circled on the National Basketball Association calendar since the day that the schedule was released in August.

Saying Durant deserves cheers from Thunder fans is an easy argument for an outsider to make. Obviously with me and Kevin, it's a bigger stage.

Since July, many fans have lashed out at the former MVP for taking the easy way out to win championships. Those few do not represent the majority.

When asked about the layup postgame, coach Billy Donovan told reporters to ask Adams, instead. In fact, they should clap, cheer or simply stay silent.

Tristan Thompson's stat line may not get much praise, but his play on defense was stellar all night. Ain't nothing I can say about it. "So it's up to them, doesn't matter to me one way or another".

Westbrook has refused to speak to Durant in the seven-plus months since he made the decision to leave for the Warriors and declined an opportunity to suggest how his ex-teammate should be greeted. "I don't know about KD". After a very long review, both players were assessed technical fouls and the game went on.

This isn't to say that the people of Oklahoma can not or should not remain hurt by Durant's decision, or preoccupied with the Warriors. Following reports that Durant's return was 90 percent certain, most Thunder fans were convinced their star was coming back. The franchise that somehow rallied from a 3-1 deficit to beat the Thunder in a thrilling Western Conference Finals last June. "We've done it a couple of times".

If it wasn't for Durant, Oklahoma City wouldn't be on the map. It won't change anything.

I know how hard it has been. Everyday when I open my closet I see his jersey. "Maybe I'm wrong, but that is how I feel". He made sure that Adams wasn't going to be a factor, leaving it up to Westbrook and Oladipo to get the win for the Thunder. So far we've heard nothing from Russell Westbrook on this. The only other Cleveland player to score in double digits was Tristan Thompson, who ended his night with 10 points. "For example, when we lost to the Cavs on Christmas, I looked at my phone and someone said Russell screamed, 'Thank you, Kyrie, ' running off the court [after Kyrie Irving's game-winning shot]".

Durant reportedly talked to the agent of LeBron James, about how James dealt with jilted fans, when he first left the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat in 2010. With Durant gone, we are still a playoff team and for that we should be thankful.

After the game, James was not in the mood to answer any questions. How can we throw away eight years of greatness over one decision? "I know how much good he did in that community".

The fact that he joined the 73-win super team would've left many people upset with Durant, regardless.

The 23-year-old New Zealander went nine of 14 from the floor en route to 20 points and grabbed nine offensive boards among a game-high haul of 13 rebounds. I don't think I've ever felt this happy. ". It's a weird feeling but it's nice because out of 82 games sometimes you need that emotion, and that'll definitely do it".
