WWE Rumors: Why Vince McMahon wants Goldberg as Universal Champion

Bill Goldberg made his return to WWE RAW this past week and managed to get a huge WWE Universal Championship opportunity at WWE Fast Lane against Kevin Owens, but will he end up winning the match the same way he beat Brock Lesnar?

Getting that title off Owens and inserting it into the Goldberg-Lesnar feud is by and far going to do more for it than anything else has since it was erected in July.

Strowman attacked Reigns as he prepared to nail Joe with a spear, allowing Raw's newest recruit to plant The Big Dog with an enziguiri to the back of the head and a match-sealing uranage.

With the news that Kurt Angle would be the headliner for this year's WWE Hall of Fame class comes the rampant speculation about whether WWE will permit him to have one final in-ring run, or perhaps even one final match.

However, before that, Goldberg will fight Kevin Owens for the WWE Universal Championship, and all the signs point to him taking the belt from KO and heading to WrestleMania as champion.

On the other hand, Goldberg made a surprising comeback a year ago by beating Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series in just 1-minute, 24-seconds.

Do Goldberg and Lesnar need the title in their matchup? No. The problem with it going on last was that the two have already proven they can not do a good match together, so why would anyone care to watch them go on last? However, there will be an added stipulation which is for the WWE Universal Championship.

"Because you haven't faced me", Goldberg said. Unlike the shoddy booking of Owens as champion, Vince McMahon brings the utmost care to booking Goldberg and Lesnar.

There's a ways to go until all that transpires, but for now, we likely have two massive matches involving Goldberg that WWE fans will surely eat up over the next couple of months.
