Several killed during Halloween hayride accident in Chunky, Mississippi

The victims were all on a trailer which was being towed by another vehicle near Chunky in Newton County, according to Capt. John Poulos of the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Three people died and several were injured Halloween night when a trailer pulling revelers was struck in eastern Mississippi. The highway has two lanes and no visible streetlights.

ABC News reported that families and groups of children get onto flatbed trailers in the MS town of Chunky. Pieces of wrapped Lifesaver Gummies, MilkyWay and Kit Kat chocolate bars and Starburst sweets were still scattered by the roadside at the site Tuesday.

Two children and one adult - all related to each other - were killed in the crash, Newton County Coroner Danny Shoemaker said late Monday.
