Also on Wednesday, News24 reported that the CEO of the Public Protector's office, Advocate Louisa Zondo, had handed in her resignation, citing "personal reasons".
Spokesperson of the Public Protector Kgalalelo Masibi says Zondo tendered her resignation yesterday.
The CEO's resignation comes less than three weeks into new Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane's seven-year term.
Mbindwane, however, tweeted that Zondo had been appointed the Strategic Executive Head for the DA Chief Whip in the City of Tshwane.
The news emerged as President Jacob Zuma on Wednesday withdrew his application to interdict former public protector's Thuli Madonsela's state capture report.
Zondo will stay on in her position until the end of November.
"It is true that advocate Zondo has resigned".
