Clown sightings reported in North Texas

Dixon Police say that reports of clowns came in Tuesday night from two different areas in town.
Other threats in Burlington Township, Collingswood, Wateford, and Palmyra were all found to be not be credible, according to the Courier Post.
In West Bend, a call to police from the father of a Badger Middle School student, alarmed about a message the student received from a self-identified clown, led to a 12-year-old girl being taken into custody.
Central Falls Police called to Calcutt Middle School Tuesday afternoon by a school resource officer who said students reported seeing a person, dressed as a clown walking around, their school grounds. On Wednesday, Bethlehem and Bethlehem Area School District officials discussed threats from Facebook user Danny "Killer Clown" Sosa concerning Freedom and Liberty high schools.
"All that's happening is everybody giving teenage kids a reason to get together and dress up like clowns", he said. Because these clown sightings reports have taken a life of their own. "There have been attempts to make threats, over social media, involving clowns in New York City". Pocatello police tracked down the student who posted the photo and interviewed the student before concluding the situation was a hoax.
"My stomach kind of dropped, I'm really scared - I think it's really creepy and I don't know why people are doing it" UMaine sophomore Molly Steinman said.
"Residents may be extra sensitive to "evil" or "creepy" clown attacks leading up to Halloween", the police department posted on its Facebook page.
A New Jersey police department is urging adults and teenagers against dressing up as a clown this Halloween. "They may go out thinking they're just joking around having fun, but at the same time, people are quick to defend themselves", Lehman said. Oak Creek advised parents to monitor their children's social media accounts.
Radford, an expert on so-called "clown panics", says the phenomena is ripe for social media and spreads easily, but should die down soon.
