Apple issues fix after iOS 10 update bricks some iPhones

You can download the latest version of Apple's mobile OS, iOS 10 as an over the air update, it should be available as of now.

The software update, which packs a bounty of new features, including a smarter Siri and enhanced messaging, apparently "bricked" some users' iPhones, rendering them useless. What happened next, required users to connect their phone to a PC synched with iTunes to manually force the update.

Furthermore, the swipe to unlock the screen is no longer available in iOS 10.

Apple's just-launched iOS 10 software update got off to a bad start with social media platforms reporting complaints as many iPhone and iPad users faced installation problems on Tuesday. The problem was quickly resolved and we apologise to those customers. For those who have already upgraded to iOS 10, the temporary solution is to completely reboot the iPhone, although this only works for a short time before the device loses connection again. Press and hold the sleep/wake button and the home button simultaneously. "We are getting reports of connectivity issues [and] Apple is working on a fix". If you don't like this feature, don't worry because you can always turn this off when you go to settings then to Display and Brightness.

The firm's Apple Music has also been redesigned as part of the update, having been criticised for being confusing when it launched a year ago.

LinkedIn is now integrated with Siri on iOS 10 devices.

A prompt in iTunes will ask you to update or restore.

The new operating system brings plenty of improvements and new features to Apple's gadgets including new ways to message, improved Apple Music, better Maps and easier access to your notifications.
