First Presidential Debate To Focus On Prosperity, Security And Nation's Direction

The highly-anticipated meeting is expected to touch on numerous topics that are important to voters.

Holt's perch at the helm of the first presidential debate on September 26 could place him in front of a good chunk of voters. Presumably, Holt will spend 30 minutes on each topic.

The topics will be: the Direction of America, Achieving Prosperity and Securing America. But, these talking points could change, depending on news developments leading up to the debate.

The debate format calls for six 15-minute time segments, and each of the topics will take up two of the six time slots.

Like the country, Fahrenkopf says he doesn't fully know what to expect at the debate. According to a Morning Consult survey conducted over the weekend, 73 percent of voters said they were likely to watch. "And how they will present themselves to the American people is anyone's guess".

As NBC News anchor Lester Holt prepares to moderate the first presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump next week, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is suggesting he ask one particular question. Candidates will then have an opportunity to respond to each other. The criteria will be reapplied to all candidates in advance of the second and third presidential debates. The vice presidential nominees will debate once, on October 4 in Virginia.
