Well, now you can test them out if you're courageous enough to join Google's new Chromecast Preview Program.
Tap the DEVICES tab to see your available Chromecast devices.
To enter the preview program, open the Google Cast app, hit Devices, find the device you want to enroll in the preview program, press the menu button, press Device Settings, and press Preview Program. It connects to your local Wi-Fi, cellular, or Ethernet-based network and lets you stream content from hundreds of sources.
Opting into the Chromecast Preview Program is a relatively straightforward affair, as the support page explains. "All Chromecast (1st gen), Chromecast, and Chromecast Audio are eligible to join the Chromecast Preview Program". Once you are successfully enrolled, you will receive an email from Google confirming your registration and filling you in on the details of the program.
Everyone likes brand new features for their gadgets and electronics, and some of us like those things enough to want to test them out for everyone else.
To be very clear, Google says that this is not a beta program in that the updates the previewers will get is the same that will roll out to all other users.
From your Android or iOS device, open the Google Cast app Chromecast cast icon. Please continue to check back as opportunities become available. Go to settings, then navigate to Notifications and turn on "Preview email". From there, you have the option of enrolling and the chance to sign up for email notifications every time new preview firmware is released.
The goal of the program isn't to dish out unstable beta features, per se.
Review the contents of that page, and tap Join Program.
