Chevy Chase, 72, enters rehab for 'tuneup' on alcohol problem

Today Mr Chase's representative confirmed the comedian is an inpatient at the Hazelden Addiction Treatment Centre in Minnesota - the same place the late Robin Williams booked into in 2014.

Chase was also treated at the Betty Ford Clinic in the 1980s for an addiction to prescription painkillers.

According to Chase's rep, the ex-Saturday Night Live cast members is in need of a "tune-up" for an alcohol-related dependency.

He said that he began using them to treat back pain, following injuries he sustained doing pratfalls for the show.

Chase is a two-time Academy Awards twice whose most famous films include Fletch, Foul Play, Vacation and Christmas Vacation.

Chase opened up about his first rehab stint in an op-ed he wrote for The New York Times in 2006.

A rep for the Saturday Night Live alum tells TMZ that Chase, 72, recently entered into an in-patient program there for a so-called "tune-up".

Entertainment sites have been all over this story...and some of the comments have been harsh. Instead, he said that he was relatively "low-level" in terms of his own abuse of drugs.

Oh man. Nonetheless, here's hoping the A-lister is able to get himself back on track as he's slated to star in Dog Years alongside Burt Reynolds and Ariel Winter.
