Martinez called the girl's killers "monsters" and said she hoped "justice will come down on them like a hammer".

This Aug. 25, 2016 booking photo provided by the Metropolitan Detention Center shows Fabian Gonzales. Albuquerque police are charging Gonzales along with two other people in the death of a 10-year-old girl a kill. The police officers went into the bathroom of the apartment and discovered the body of Victoria Marten inside the bathtub.

Deputy Corrections Secretary Alex Sanchez told KRQE-TV her department wasn't notified of the judge's order and learned of it Thursday, the day after the girl was killed.

Police said the 10-year-old was injected with methamphetamine drug, sexually assaulted, strangled and stabbed. On the day the girl was goin.

New Mexico police said they found charred body of a nine-year-old girl who had been defiled, murdered and dismembered in an apartment.

Victoria Martens was not known to have been a victim of previous violent abuse. She appeared before a judge in a wheelchair and flanked by multiple guards.

The 31-year-old was the last to be booked.

New Mexico corrections and court officials say a man arrested in the killing of a 10-year-old Albuquerque girl was supposed to be on supervised probation from an unrelated case but wasn't being monitored by probation officers.

Gonzales has a New Mexico arrest record stretching back to 2004, including a felony child abuse charge, driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest. Two other suspects have been accused of allegedly also taking part in the girl's death, including her mother, Michelle Martens.

Gonzales denied having involvement with Victoria's death while reporters yelled questions at him as he was led out of the police station in handcuffs late Wednesday.

The family of a 10-year-old Albuquerque girl who was brutally murdered says the support and prayers of the community are helping them cope with the tragedy.

All three suspects are being held on $1 million bond. Police said Kelley was hurt when she jumped off the apartment's balcony trying to run away from officers. CNN affiliate KOAT says both Kelley and Gonzales have extensive criminal records.

There were conflicting reports from state officials Friday over communication of probation requirements imposed on Gonzales between court administrators and the New Mexico Department of Corrections. It was meant to ensure he committed no crimes and threatened jail time as punishment for violations like illegal drug use.

Second Judicial District Court spokesman Tim Korte said records show the documents were forwarded to the corrections department in February 2015.

Mayor Richard Berry said in a statement that her shocking death has brought the community together.

"Children have few rights and no one to speak for them", Bobbs said.

Those stories made national headlines, but Victoria's slaying is drawing deeper condemnation.

Martinez was a prosecutor for 25 years before becoming governor and says she took on many gut-wrenching cases.

Judge Chris J. Schultz says the case is one of the worst he has ever seen.

Christie Zamora said Victoria attended her gymnastics class every Saturday and always seemed happy. Many said the memorial made up the child's birthday gift. Then, Gonzales reportedly had sex with the girl while Kelley watched.

"We should get on this now", Sanchez said. "It's going to take a whole generation before we see real change".
